Dear Wagon Wheel Parents:
On behalf of the PTA, I would like to welcome everyone to Wagon Wheel Elementary School! My name is Sara DeMond and I am so happy to be serving as your PTA President for the 2012-2013 year. This is my 2nd year as the PTA President and I look forward to having another successful year. The PTA is a way for us parents to become more involved in our school and help make our children’s education successful. I would like to invite the Wagon Wheel community to get involved and become a volunteer. Please take the time to scroll through the information on the Wagon Wheel PTA website (www.wagonwheelpta.com ) and see how you can make a difference.
HOW TO STAY INFORMED:
We are fortunate to have Ms. Kathy Parker as our principal as we have seen great accomplishments under her guidance. One of the quickest ways to get plugged in to the happenings at Wagon Wheel is to sign up for the Principal’s List Serve Communications. Go to the District website at www.capousd.org and follow the directions on how to sign up for List Serve.
Friday Folders are another way to stay informed. These folders are purchased by the PTA and contain important PTA, school, and classroom related material. Please take the time each week to review them for PTA and school updates. Over the course of the year, you will also see several flyers about ways you can support the PTA at our schools.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES SPONSORED BY PTA:
It is the goal of our current PTA to continue to enrich all Wagon Wheel students with educational programs and services. Our Board has worked closely with our Principal and Teacher Representatives to ensure that our funds are utilized in meeting current State curriculum criteria while including specific desires of the teachers. Most of the school programs are funded by PTA and include the following: 1st-3rd Grade Music Class, Meet the Masters Art Program, Grade Level Assemblies, Red Ribbon Week, Anti Bully Week, Musical Productions, Book Fairs, Community Outreach Programs, Literacy Week, Legislation Representatives, Parent Education events and Reflections Program. PTA funds also provide the call-in sick line, bottled water in the portables, emergency kits in each classroom, 3rd – 5th grade student planners, materials for a fully stocked Science Lab and Friday Folders. Not to mention, the PTA has been able to keep Wagon Wheel’s technology up to date each year with updated computers, software, and programs for the students.
JOIN PTA!
Included on the PTA website is the Wagon Wheel PTA Membership/Directory form to join our PTA. When you join PTA, you will receive a Student Directory to aid in planning play dates, birthday parties, carpools or homework help. You may join the PTA at any point, however please note that you join after the directory is issued your name will not appear in the directory. When you join us, know that your money will be well spent on behalf of all of our children. We encourage all PTA members to attend the General Association Meetings that meet four times throughout the school year. All PTA members have a voice of how funds should be spent and what programs would be best for Wagon Wheel Elementary. All ideas are welcome!
The Association Meetings will be held at 10 AM in the MPR on:
September 26th, 2012
November 28th, 2012
March 20th, 2013
May 22nd, 2013
In order for PTA to fund all the wonderful programs and services, we ask for your monetary support. Here is a list of planned fundraisers for this year.
